The Xmas holidays are upon us, and I know not all of you celebrate it.  So, consider the question I'm asking beyond the realm of Christmas.  If you could have any present--and I mean ANY PRESENT/GIFT--what would you want and WHY? Can't wait to hear what you have to say!

Willow Smith Video: What's your opinion?

“Whip my Hair” video has been out for about a week, but that doesn’t mean the excitement is dying down. The young 9 year old daughter of Will Smith and Jada Pinkett is really taking the R&B world by charm.
“Whip My Hair” is being played in clubs as well as playgrounds.  Willow already has a fan base stretching from 8 and 9 year olds up to people older than her parents.  If her single continues success, it will become a record breaker that will break records set by Michael Jackson and Stevie Wonder.

September is National Book Month

September is National Book Month.  A new type of book, an eBook, is making its way into homes and classrooms around the world.  An eBook doesn't use paper and is listened to by the "reader."  Would you rather read a paper book, listen to an eBook or a combination of both?  Why?

Summer time!

Hello everyone!

I hope you are enjoying your break from school so far.  I just got word from Ms Bruce that I'll actually have a classroom next year!  I'm very excited about that. I have big plans to set up a classroom library with all kinds of reading materials.  Let me know what you like to read, and I'll keep an eye out for it.  (That's an idiomatic expression.  Don't worry. I won't lose my eye.)  Here's a picture of a strange and beautiful flower that I saw the other day in my son-in-law's backyard.  Does anyone know what kind of flower this is?  Make a post to say hello.  Let everyone know what you're up to. 

It's almost time for summer vacation!

Hello everyone!  I know you're all excited about the end of the school year. What will you do with your free time?  Are you attending summer school?  Are you planning any trips or activities?  Is anyone going to work?  Tell us what you are going to do during your summer vacation.

Spring Fever is here! Time to make a new holiday-

March 20th is the first day of Spring!

This Saturday is the first day of spring.  Spring is my favorite season in New Orleans because it's not too hot, and everything starts to bloom.  I saw a gosling (a baby goose) in Audubon Park the other day.  Its parents kept a close watch on their fluffy, yellow, little offspring.  So cute!  The trees all around my house are budding.  Everything feels fresh.  What's your favorite season?  Why?

Martin Luther King Jr. was born January 15, 1929

On Monday, January 18th school will be closed to commemorate (to celebrate & remember) Martin Luther King, Jr.  We remember Dr King because of his peaceful efforts to bring people together.  He delivered his famous speech "I Have a Dream" in 1963 before thousands of people in Washington D.C.  Beginning with those same words, write your own speech about your hope for our world and its people.
