Once a boy was walking down the road, and came to a place where the road divided in two, each separate road forking off in a different direction.
A girl was standing at the fork in the road. The boy knew that one road led to Lieville, a town where everyone always lied, and the other led to Trueville, a town where everyone always told the truth. He also knew that the girl came from one of those towns, but he didn't know which one.
Can you think of a question the boy could ask the girl to find out the way to Trueville?
If she is from lieville(where everybody always lied)so he can't ask her anything because she never tell him the truth.
ReplyDeleteBut if she is really come from trueville. he can find the way to trueville be cause she always telling the truth.
Ashley,
ReplyDeleteThanks for leaving a comment. I know you understand the problem. Can you think of a question the boy could ask the girl? Write back and let me know.
I think the question boy should ask from the girl is
ReplyDelete" Are you from lieville where everybody should speak lie?"
or " Does the people in lieville speak lies all the time, is that true
".
He will ask the first one or the second question because if she is from lieville she will never hear something bad about her village. So if she says yes they do then you know that she is not from there, but if she says they don't, then she is from there.
I think thats how it will work..........
Mario_Brown Maby he askes her a trick question like"wich road is not not lies road" or i don't don't want to go to truesvill"or some thing that will confuse her to spill the beans
ReplyDeletemanahil nice try but if he ask the girl " Does the people in lieville speak lies all the time, is that true
ReplyDelete"then if she says yes she will be telling the truth, not the lie.if she says no then she will be telling the truth that she is from lieville but if she is from lieville she cannot tell the truth.
sorry if its confusing but i can't really explain it
Just ask her which town she from, then go to that town. If she lies then just go the other way.
ReplyDeleteCan you take me to your town?
=>>>it's not me!!! it's my sister
but, is it correct????
I LOVE YOU MISS LYONS
Okay everyone, keep thinking! So far no one has asked the right question. Remember that the boy doesn't know the way to Trueville, and he needs to ask for directions to Trueville. Keep thinking. I promise you that the answer is very simple. :)
ReplyDeletehi ms.Lyons The question the boy should ask is, "Which way is your town?"
ReplyDeleteIf the girl is from Lieville, she will point to Trueville because she has to lie; if she is from Trueville, she'll point to Trueville because she has to tell the truth. So whatever road the girl points to will be the road to Trueville.
ms.Lyon is it right????????????
ReplyDeleteI LOVE YOU
Ms.Lyon
